Refills to Fit Brands

Ballpoint Refills
In most cases, if you twist the top or click the top of your pen, it is a ballpoint and one of these options will fit. 99% of the time the numbers you see on your dry refill identify when the refill was made but not its stock number. You can scroll down to locate your brand of refill and identify one that looks the same, then view the length under "Specifications" and measure your old refill to confirm you've got the right fit.
But don't stop there, be sure to look for other manufacturer's options that are the same size and configuration. You may have other ink and point size choices. For example, Parker-style ballpoint refills are offered in three ink types, three point sizes and ten different colors. Select from standard ballpoint ink, liquid ink or gel ink.
- Notice the brand name on your refill. If it says ‘Parker’ you have a huge choice. Anything named ‘Parker Style’ will fit. Brands which are designed for the Parker Style refill are: Monteverde, Visconti, American Pen, Schmidt, Montegrappa or Pelikan
- If there’s no brand obvious, look at the very
top and the very bottom to match your dry refill
- You either have the world’s most common refill, Parker
Style or you have one of these proprietary brands: Montblanc, Lamy, Cross or

Rollerball Refills
In most cases, if you remove the cap of your pen to write, it is a rollerball and one of these options will fit. Take a look at the top and bottom of your refill, this is how you can verify the shape needed to fit your pen.
- The most common rollerball refill shape used in the world is the ‘Schmidt 5888” it is often referred to as the 'international rollerball refill' or 'universal rollerball refill'. These brands accept the ‘5888’: Monteverde, 5280, Aurora, Diplomat, Faber – Castell, Marlin, Pineider, Porsche Design, Rotring, Visconti, Waterford and more.
- There are several brands which use a refill shaped exclusively for their brand. Color and point choices are often limited by these brands so we also offer a wide selection of choices from Monteverde, the leader in refill choices.

Fountain Pen Ink
Whether you use bottles or cartridges, we have your ink!
Most fountain pens utilize ink cartridges. If your pen is a piston fill model, it will refill only with bottled ink. If you would like to use bottled ink, but have only used ink cartridges in the past, then look at the Converters to locate a fit for your brand of pen. Make your choice carefully or if you'd like a 'hand', give us a call at 720.259.1601.
- If you are shopping for ink cartridges and do not have a used cartridge for reference, look for your brand of pen in the list of cartridges. If you cannot locate your brand, many fountain pens have been designed to fit the international-sized ink cartridges. They are one and one-half inches long and fit in most barrels. They also have a uniform "neck" which fits in many fountain pens. We carry numerous brands, all of which contain the water-based liquid ink commonly used in fountain pens.
- Almost every fountain pen we offer can use bottled ink. Just make sure the pens ships with an ink converter. If not, we’ll have one listed that fits perfectly as an option.
- We have various brands of ink to give you a diverse color choice as well as various formulations. Our best-selling bottled ink is our own in-house developed brand, Colorado Pen. This ink is formulated specifically to our specifications. The primary difference with our own ink is that the base liquid itself has proven properties to enhance flow and to be easier to clean the feed when changing colors or simply cleaning your nib and feed.

A free fountain pen cleaning from Your Friends at Colorado Pen
We get an amazing number of fountain pens sent to our offices in Colorado for cleaning. This pleases us beyond description. Almost all of these pens arrive with a detailed note explaining what may be wrong with their pen and why they’ve regrettably, stopped using them.
How it works
First, we disassemble and soak the pen. After usually two days of soaking and rinsing, the nib and feed go into a warm ultrasonic bath of cleaning solution. This loosens the tiny ‘crusties’ of pigment residue rinsing just won’t dislodge. Once its completely cleaned to like new condition, the pen is reassembled and extensively tested. We ship the pen back with your pen’s writing test and any suggestions if needed.
